We live on memories. Without memory we cannot proceed a single step. For the last few years I have been working with the concept of memory. I am trying to present memory from my realisations, through paintings, relief works and installations. The main purpose of my works is to search myself, my soul. I am trying to discover the meaning of my existence on earth. Black is the colour of memory to me. Every moment we pass, becomes memory and they remain inside the darkest cellar of our subconscious mind. Whenever we want to recollect past, we light up those areas and they become visible , so we can remember some parts of memories. In this present installation, I have gathered few of those objects, which are directly connected with my past. They are literally the embodied elements from my memories. Each of these objects compel me to recall different memories. All these memorable objects have been hung from the ceiling in several layers, colouring in black. Black symbolizes the subconscious. After painting them black, each object expresses their utilitarian forms and shapes more strongly and enhance their essentiality. To me, Memory is the shadow of reality. The hanging elements are embodied memories and the shadows underneath is the emotional impact we feel from recalling past. It is the the shadow of memory. I would be happy if the viewers can connect themselves to the objects through their memories and enjoy the installation.
