Anthology of torn memories
Memory is our driving force. Without memory, we are nothing. As I have always tried to paint the unseen world of my mind, here I wanted to experiment how it feels to see memories when we say “Torn Memories” and how this common phrase from our conversations becomes alive and real. I have literally torn a huge collection of Muslin fabric ( on which I wrote my subconscious texts) into thousands of pieces and pasted it to get the real picture of something which does not exist in reality. “Each memory was now the shadow of a shadow of a shadow” quoted by Haruki Murakami in the story “Tony Takitani” is the inspiration behind using transparent muslin as my main medium. Memory itself is a shadow of reality and the other shadow is an imprint of the retrieval of memory. As muslin has a historical value and transparency, it creates shadow on wall. The Black MUSLIN offers the viewer a visual journey to retrieve memories. Thus, a two a dimensional object is transformed into a three dimensional impression. As MUSLIN is an extremely light weight fabric as well, it sways with the slightest air movement. I define this as the physical and mental resonance of memory. And here each single piece creates different memories with its airy movement with each person comes to any physical contact with the artwork.
